About Me

craigmenziesMy name is Craig Menzies. Hello. Nice to meet you…

You can contact me through my online contact form, which is here: email contact form.

I am an independent business and technology writer, specializing in creating critical written business assets in the digital space. This includes the research and writing of website design briefs, business models, technology review pieces, vendor comparison reports (I am the author of a Forrester Research Wave report on Interactive Agencies), case studies, website usability reports, and industry best practice white papers. My domain knowledge includes online customer experience, usability, web analytics and measurement, e-commerce, and corporate website effectiveness. I also do website copywriting, both for general content and for products.

About me? Until the end of 2008, I was a Senior Analyst with Forrester Research, and the lead analyst for the European Customer Experience team. My research and writing at Forrester covered the Web design and development capabilities of digital marketing agencies in Europe (but mostly in the UK), and how prospective clients could work with digital or interactive website design and build vendors to achieve their business goals. I also wrote about Web analytics and website optimization, but my most popular research covered the all-important strategy, process and culture aspects of starting and running large website design projects, as well as the critical inclusion of user-centred design and customer experience principles. In short, I tried to teach people that thinking about designing websites that would allow their customers to achieve their key goals online was a good idea.

Many of my articles have been widely read, and have been quoted in both mainstream and industry press, in such publications as: New Media Age, ComputerWorld (UK), and .Net Magazine.

Before joining Forrester, I was a senior technology consultant and the head of technology for Logan Tod & Co, a fantastic London-based Web measurement and conversion consultancy. In this capacity, I helped many companies with their website improvement programs, as well as providing strategic consultation on several large website redesign projects and content management system implementations. But, prior to this, I was head of technical and eCommerce for leading UK gifts and gadgets retailer I Want One of Those.com, head of database operations for one of Canada’s largest direct marketing firms, and a freelance Web designer and database marketing consultant.
